How to delete your account
You can delete your account in the Shear app. This cannot be undone.
- Open the Shear app and sign in with the Google account you want to delete.
- Go to Profile, then open Settings.
- Tap Delete account at the bottom of Settings.
- Confirm. Google may ask you to sign in again before the deletion finishes.
If you cannot open the app, email team.shear.app@gmail.com from the same Google address, with the subject Delete my Shear account. We will process the request.
What we delete
When you delete your account, we promptly delete:
- Your login (Firebase Auth)
- Your profile (nickname, date of birth, gender, city, bio, and similar)
- Your profile photos
- Your matching queue
You cannot get this data back.
What we may keep, and for how long
- Chats, chat photos, and reports may stay for a while for safety, operations, and legal reasons. The other person will see the chat as ended.
- A device identifier may be kept for up to 7 days so the same device cannot sign up again during that period.
