Shear ("we", "us") explains here how we collect and use personal information.
1. What we collect
- Required: Google account email, name, date of birth (to confirm age), gender, profile photo, city
- Optional: bio
- Matching: location (latitude/longitude — only when you use matching)
- Collected automatically: device identifier (to stop multiple signups), FCM push token, usage logs
- We check whether a profile photo contains a face on your device only. We do not store a face template on our servers.
2. Why we collect it
- To verify you and stop abuse (Google sign-in, device identifier)
- To provide matching and chat
- To handle reports, blocks, and user safety
- To send push notifications
- To improve the Service and look at usage stats
3. Location
Location (GPS) is sensitive. We only collect it when you use matching. You can turn off location permission in your device settings at any time.
4. How long we keep it
- When you delete your account, we delete your login, profile, and profile photos promptly.
- Chats, chat photos, and reports may be kept for a while for safety, operations, and legal reasons.
- To enforce the 7-day re-signup block, we may keep a device identifier for up to 7 days after you delete your account.
5. Sharing with others
We don't sell your personal information. We share it with the service providers below so the app can run. We may also share information when the law requires it or a law-enforcement request is valid.
6. Service providers
We use Firebase (Google) for accounts, the database, file storage, and notifications. We use Google AdMob to show ads. AdMob may receive a device advertising identifier and app-usage data to show and measure ads.
7. Your rights
You can view, correct, or delete your information (including by deleting your account) at any time. Account deletion steps are at https://jaegi-h-142536.web.app/delete. If you live in California or another place with extra privacy laws (such as CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights, including deletion, portability, and opting out of sale.
8. Under 18
Shear is for people 18 and older. If we learn someone is under 18, we can delete that account. Our Child Safety Standards are at https://jaegi-h-142536.web.app/child-safety.
